The Award Scheme
Access audits have been regularly undertaken by the group over the years. Encouragement is given to premises where Access for people with disabilities is especially good and well planned. General standards for awards vary dependent on the type of premises. They are described below.
Bronze Award
Clear level entry with easy access through front door. Good lighting, uncluttered aisles.
Silver Award
As Bronze plus low counters for people in wheelchairs.
Gold Award
As above plus loop system, large print menus or information, changing rooms for the physically disabled, disability awareness training.
